Thursday 2nd week of Easter
Saint John 3,31-36
Jesus has come from heaven, he is the one sent by God, he brings us his words, which are true wisdom and those that give meaning to life: they are the best proof of the love that God has for his Son and for us; The one who welcomes Jesus and his word is the one who gets it right: he will have the eternal life that God is offering him through his Son; whoever does not want to accept him, excludes himself from life.
Reflection:
We surely have long ago made the choice, in our lives, to welcome Jesus as the one sent by God. We have considered that it is he who gives full meaning to our existence, and we strive to follow his lifestyle. We are guiding ourselves, not with the criteria «of earth», but those «of heaven», as Jesus said to Nicodemus.
This means that we strive, day after day, to vitally assimilate the evangelical categories, so as not to get carried away by the human categories that are breathed in this world, which are «from the earth» and sometimes opposed to those «from above.»
Peter has told us that Jesus is the Chief and Savior, that in him we find the forgiveness of sins. The gospel has told us that whoever believes and follows this Jesus possesses eternal life. This fills us with joy and at the same time with commitment.
If we have the possibility and the option of a daily Eucharist, it gives us the best opportunity to go to the school of Jesus, to listen to his Word, to allow ourselves to be continually enlightened by God’s criteria. So that our category of values and our way of thinking and interpreting the people and events of history coincide fully with that of God. And furthermore, the Eucharist gives us daily strength so that we can do this in life.
